If you're still in Singapore, you might want to head on down to the Living With... photography exhibition organised by Action for Aids (:
Here's a short writeup about the exhibition extracted from today's ST:
The Art Against Aids photography exhibition runs till Nov 29 at VivoCity's South Avenue, Level 1. Titled "Living With...", the 43 photos explore the realities and issues of living with Aids, both negative and positive.
Ina first for Singapore, the 10 photo essays are created by patients and also their loved ones, caregivers and volunteers to offer very personal perspectives on living with Aids.
Ahead of World Aids Day on Dec 1, the non-profit Action For Aids (AFA) is hosting this outreach and public education event. Its biennual Art Against Aids programme debuted in 1996 as an art competition to address issues of HIV/Aids, such as stigma.
This year, the five-month photography project kicked off on April 18 with the first in a series of six workshops on the basics of digital photography. Then came a two-month mentorship programme to develop the photo essay, with Canon donating a variety of point-and-shoot cameras.
Seven professional photographers trained and mentored the 10 participants. They include Straits Times chief photographer Wang Hui Fen and her photojournalist colleagues, Mr Bryan van der Beek and Mr Terence Tan.
You can also catch a sneak preview of the pictures from today's copy of Straits Times [Saturday section] - some of the pictures are pretty stunning, and makes for good material to learn from if you're into conceptual photography (:
